What is IV therapy?
IV (intravenous) therapy gives fluids, vitamins, minerals and amino acids through a small catheter in a vein, directly into the bloodstream. Because it goes straight into the bloodstream, it does not depend on absorption through the digestive system.
At our Hamilton clinic, IV therapy is one option Dr. Morais may discuss within a broader naturopathic plan that also looks at nutrition, lifestyle and the care you already receive from your healthcare team.

IV Therapy – Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about intravenous nutrient therapy in Hamilton.
IV (intravenous) therapy is a way of delivering fluids, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into your bloodstream through a small vein. Because the nutrients skip the digestive system, your body can absorb them more efficiently than when they are taken by mouth.
Some people find IV therapy useful when they are not absorbing nutrients well from food or supplements, or when they need higher levels of certain nutrients. We only recommend it after reviewing your health history to make sure it is a good fit for you.
Before any IV treatment, we take time to understand your health. This usually includes:
- A review of your medical history
- Current medications and supplements
- Recent blood work (if needed)
Together we will discuss whether IV therapy makes sense for your situation and create a plan that feels right for you.
You will sit comfortably in a recliner while the infusion runs. We monitor you throughout the session to keep you safe and comfortable. Most treatments last between 30 and 90 minutes. Many people read, listen to music, or simply relax during this time.
Yes — safety is our priority. Our clinic follows the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO) standards for Intravenous Infusion Therapy.
- We use only authorized substances
- Everything is prepared under sterile conditions
- We choose materials that reduce the chance of allergic reactions
- All nutrients come from a quality-controlled compounding pharmacy
We always check whether IV therapy is appropriate for your individual health before starting.
In many cases, recent blood work helps us decide if IV therapy is suitable and which formula would be best. You can bring results from your family doctor, or we can arrange testing if needed.
Many extended health plans cover naturopathic services, including IV therapy. Coverage varies, so it’s best to check with your insurance provider.
Please book a consultation so we can review your health history and discuss whether IV therapy may be appropriate for you.
